DUBAI — In a landmark advancement for global smart transportation, Uber Technologies and Chinese autonomous driving pioneer Baidu have officially rolled out fully driverless Apollo Go robotaxis across public roads in Dubai. Managed on the ground by licensed fleet partner New Horizon Luxury Transport, the deployment makes Dubai the international launchpad for scaling autonomous passenger operations on Uber’s global marketplace platform. Starting immediately, passengers in Dubai booking an UberX or Uber Comfort ride may be matched directly with a fully driverless Apollo Go vehicle. To provide seamless consumer access, Uber has introduced a dedicated "Autonomous" category within its mobile app, allowing riders to actively select driverless transport across initial operational zones spanning Umm Suqeim and Jumeirah, with structured plans for geographic expansion across broader commercial districts. The milestone builds directly upon Dubai’s progressive regulatory environment and cutting-edge municipal infrastructure.
