The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) issued a statement on Wednesday, 19 August, condemning Israeli air raids targeting the Abu al-Duhur Military Airbase in Syria’s Idlib Governorate. The ministry described the strikes as a breach of Syrian sovereignty and a threat to regional stability. Violation of International Agreements In its official communication, the MoFA stated that the operations against Syrian territory represent a violation of international law. Specifically, the UAE highlighted that these actions breach the 1974 Disengagement Agreement between Syria and Israel, a formal accord that established a ceasefire and a buffer zone overseen by the United Nations. The UAE reaffirmed its position regarding the territorial integrity of Syria, calling for the protection of its security and the fulfillment of the Syrian people's aspirations for peace and development. The ministry’s statement follows a pattern of increasing military activity in the region, which the UAE warns could further escalate regional tensions.
