Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has partnered with Emaar Properties to significantly expand the Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall Metro Station, one of the busiest hubs on the Red Line. The project will increase the station's capacity by 65% and add a new air-conditioned pedestrian link to ease access for the millions of people who use it annually. For commuters and visitors, this means less crowding and smoother journeys to Dubai’s most popular district. The RTA and Emaar Properties signed an agreement to undertake a major overhaul of the station and its connections. The core of the project is the construction of a new, 880-metre air-conditioned pedestrian bridge linking the station directly to Dubai Mall, the Dubai Fountain, and surrounding Emaar developments. This new walkway will supplement the existing 820-metre Metro Link bridge. The primary goal is to boost the station's capacity from its current 22,000 riders per hour to 36,300 riders per hour, alleviating a major bottleneck on the Dubai Metro system.
