Qatar Ministry Launches TIMSS 2027 Pilot to Benchmark Student Achievement

Qatar’s Ministry of Education initiates the pilot phase of the TIMSS 2027 study to benchmark math and science achievement in schools.
The Qatari Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) has confirmed the launch of the pilot phase for the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS 2027). The trial assessment serves as a critical preparatory window to evaluate the readiness of national schools and student performance levels ahead of the global 2027 evaluation cycle. Assessment Scope and Standards TIMSS 2027 is a large-scale international assessment designed to measure the mathematics and science achievements of students in the fourth and eighth grades. The pilot test will be administered to a select sample of schools across Qatar to refine data collection instruments and ensure technical infrastructure meets the standards set by the International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA). Participation in these assessments provides the Ministry with comparative data to benchmark Qatar’s primary and middle-school curricula against global educational leaders.
