NCM forecasts rain and dust storms across UAE as humidity hits 90%

The National Centre of Meteorology warns of 90% humidity and 40 km/h winds as rain clouds form over eastern regions.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) issued weather warnings for several regions of the UAE on Friday, 17 July, predicting a mix of rainfall, fog, and blowing dust as humidity levels remain high. Data from the NCM indicates that internal and coastal areas face humidity peaks of up to 90 per cent, creating conditions for thick morning fog and reduced visibility down to less than 1,000 metres in specific zones. Rainfall and dust alerts Meteorologists expect convective clouds to form over eastern and southern territories, specifically near Al Ain and the Al Hajar mountains. These formations are likely to trigger localized rainfall of varying intensities. Concurrently, the NCM warned of fresh winds reaching speeds of 40 km/h, which will kick up dust and sand, further impacting road safety for motorists traveling between emirates. Sea conditions in the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea are expected to remain slight to moderate. However, the NCM noted that wind activity during cloud formation could cause temporary surges in wave height. Temperatures across the country are projected to range from highs of 46°C in internal areas to lows of 24°C in the mountain regions.
