Iraq has recovered 25 billion Iraqi dinars ($19 million) and four kilograms of gold jewelry as part of a corruption investigation involving a senior oil ministry official. The Federal Integrity Commission announced the seizure on Friday, 17 July, following the recent arrest of Adnan al-Jumaili, the Director General of the Administrative and Financial Department at the Ministry of Oil. The recovered assets were seized from various locations linked to al-Jumaili, who was taken into custody for his alleged involvement in large-scale financial irregularities. Investigators reported that the cash and jewelry were found concealed in residential properties, marking one of the most significant physical recoveries of stolen state funds in recent months. Crackdown on Administrative Corruption The arrest of al-Jumaili is the latest in a series of high-profile enforcement actions led by Iraq’s Commission of Integrity. The commission confirmed that the 25 billion dinars have been deposited into the Iraqi central treasury. This operation targeted what officials describe as pervasive administrative and financial misconduct within the management of the oil sector, which provides the majority of Iraq's national revenue.
