Etihad Rail has completed its first automotive transport operation, delivering a fleet of Nissan Patrol vehicles to Abu Dhabi via its dedicated freight network. The transport service, conducted for Al Masaood Automobiles, moves the Japanese SUVs from the Jebel Ali industrial zone in Dubai to the Al Mirfa depot in the Al Dhafra region. Industrial Logistics Shift The operation marks the commercial launch of finished vehicle logistics on the UAE’s national rail network. By utilizing 900-metre-long freight trains, Etihad Rail can transport hundreds of vehicles in a single journey. This shift from road-based car carriers to rail aims to reduce heavy vehicle traffic on the E11 and E311 highways, which currently serve as the primary distribution arteries for the UAE’s automotive sector. The freight service connects major industrial hubs including the Port of Jebel Ali, Khalifa Port, and the Fujairah Port. Etihad Rail’s fleet includes multi-purpose wagons specifically designed for the secure transport of large SUVs and commercial vehicles, catering to the high demand for the Nissan Patrol model in the Abu Dhabi market.
