Dubai Police identifies 10 key AI opportunities to automate patrols and criminal investigations by 2040.
Dubai Police identified 10 artificial intelligence opportunities on Saturday, 17 October, designed to restructure law enforcement operations by 2040. The findings, released by the Future Foresight Centre, detail a transition toward autonomous patrols, self-adaptive cybersecurity, and proactive security sensing. Strategic shift to autonomous operations Brigadier Dr Hamdan Ahmad Al Ghassiya, Director of the Future Foresight Centre at Dubai Police, stated that intelligent systems will move from supporting roles to performing complex security tasks with varying degrees of autonomy. The identified opportunities include AI agent swarms, hybrid human-AI teams, and generative security simulation to model potential threats. The roadmap focuses on physical AI and autonomous patrol systems, which aim to process vast datasets in real time. According to Dubai Police, these systems will enable agencies to navigate increasingly complex security environments by responding to developments faster than traditional human-led models. Enhanced criminal investigations The 10-point plan also covers AI-enhanced criminal investigations and hyper-personalised services for the public. Fatima Rashid Al Alili, Director of the Future Scenarios Department, said identifying these opportunities is a strategic priority to ensure police readiness amid rapid technological shifts.
