Abu Dhabi tests autonomous patrol boat at Saadiyat Ferry Terminal

Abu Dhabi has successfully conducted the second round of field trials for an autonomous patrol boat near the Al Saadiyat Ferry Terminal. The 23-foot vessel, developed by the UAE-based Blue Gulf Group, was tested for its navigation, obstacle avoidance, and remote monitoring capabilities in a maritime environment on Friday, 14 August. Maritime surveillance capabilities The autonomous craft is designed to perform coastal surveillance, search and rescue operations, and environmental monitoring without a crew on board. During the trial, the Blue Gulf Group demonstrated the vessel's ability to operate in specific sea conditions, providing real-time data to a land-based command centre. This second phase of testing follows earlier preliminary evaluations, aiming to verify the software’s reliability in high-traffic ferry lanes.
