Abu Dhabi health authorities and Islamic affairs regulators have issued an advisory for UAE citizens and residents planning to perform Hajj in 2025. The guidance mandates early medical screenings and vaccine compliance to ensure permit eligibility and public health safety during the upcoming pilgrimage season. Mandatory Health Requirements The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) confirmed that all prospective pilgrims must undergo a comprehensive medical examination to determine their physical fitness for the journey. This screening is a prerequisite for obtaining the official Hajj permit through the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments (Awqaf). Residents must visit authorized healthcare centers to complete these assessments well before the departure dates. Vaccination remains a core requirement for travel to Saudi Arabia. The DoH specified that pilgrims must be immunized against meningitis, seasonal influenza, and pneumococcal infections. Specifically, the meningitis vaccine is mandatory for all travelers, while the influenza and pneumococcal doses are highly recommended, particularly for older adults and individuals with chronic respiratory conditions.…
