Abu Dhabi's Department of Energy signs agreements in Boston, New York, and California to integrate AI and quantum computing into utility networks.
A high-level delegation from the Department of Energy – Abu Dhabi (DoE) concluded an official diplomatic and technical mission to the United States on Saturday, 22 August, securing multiple agreements focused on artificial intelligence and quantum computing integration within the utility sector. Strategic MoUs signed in US tech hubs Led by DoE Chairman Dr Abdulla Humaid Al Jarwan, the delegation conducted meetings across Boston, New York, and California. The mission resulted in the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with American regulatory bodies, academic institutions, and technology firms. These agreements target the modernisation of electricity and water networks through automated systems and advanced regulatory frameworks. A primary outcome of the visit is the proposed establishment of an AI-powered laboratory in collaboration with international research centres. This facility will serve as a testing ground for transitioning theoretical energy research into practical, scalable infrastructure solutions for the Abu Dhabi market. Focus on quantum computing and resilience Technical discussions during the tour prioritised the application of quantum computing to enhance water-use efficiency and resource forecasting.
