Women comprise 51% of UAE National Experts Program graduates

Women now comprise 51 percent of the graduates from the UAE National Experts Program (NEP), representing the majority of specialists developed for priority sectors since the initiative launched in 2019. Data released on Saturday, 29 August, shows that of the 86 experts trained across four cohorts, 44 are Emirati women. The program, which focuses on sector-specific development and executive mentorship, has placed female graduates in leadership roles across science, nuclear safety, food security, and international diplomacy. The update follows the conclusion of recent international engagements where NEP fellows represented the UAE at platforms including the G20, UNESCO, and the World Economic Forum in Davos. Impact on National Priority Sectors Female experts from the program are currently managing critical national infrastructure and policy frameworks. Meera Al Mheiri has been identified as the first Emirati woman to serve as a Nuclear Safety Inspector at the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) and the first Emirati expert contracted by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in safety culture. In the field of food security, Maryam Al Falasi developed a surplus food redirection system that has facilitated the distribution of more than five million meals since 2023.
