UK-based fintech Vyne enters the Hungarian market to offer account-to-account payments, bypassing traditional card networks to lower merchant costs.

Vyne, a London-based fintech specialist, has officially launched its operations in Hungary, becoming the first UK-based account-to-account (A2A) payment provider to enter the Central European market. The move introduces a direct digital payment alternative designed to bypass traditional card networks like Visa and Mastercard. Disrupting Traditional Card Schemes The expansion targets Hungary’s growing e-commerce and retail sectors, where merchants currently face high transaction fees associated with legacy card systems. By utilizing Open Banking technology, Vyne allows consumers to pay for goods and services directly from their bank accounts. This process eliminates the need for manual data entry or the storage of sensitive card information, reducing the risk of fraud and chargebacks for retailers. The Hungarian Central Bank (Magyar Nemzeti Bank) has been a vocal proponent of digitizing the domestic economy, previously implementing the Instant Payment System (AFR).
