The United States Department of State has approved a series of major foreign military sales to four Middle Eastern nations, totaling an estimated $8.6 billion. The deal includes advanced munitions and equipment for Israel, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Kuwait, aimed at strengthening regional security and defense capabilities during a period of heightened regional tension. UAE and Qatar Defense Upgrades The United Arab Emirates is cleared to purchase GBU-39 Small Diameter Bomb Increment 1 (SDB I) munitions and related equipment in a deal valued at approximately $1.2 billion. This acquisition is designed to enhance the UAE Air Force’s precision-strike capabilities. Separately, Qatar received approval for a $6.8 billion package focused on the sustainment and support of its F-15QA fighter aircraft fleet, ensuring the long-term operational readiness of its air defense infrastructure.
