Unifonic and Ideem deploy passwordless security solutions for GCC firms to eliminate phishing and OTP vulnerabilities.
Saudi-based communication platform Unifonic has partnered with identity security provider Ideem to deploy passwordless authentication solutions for enterprises across the GCC. The collaboration integrates Ideem’s security protocols into Unifonic’s Communication Platform as a Service (CPaaS), allowing regional businesses to replace traditional passwords and One-Time Passwords (OTPs) with biometric and hardware-based verification. Advanced Security via FIDO2 Standards The new partnership focuses on implementing FIDO2 and WebAuthn standards, which utilize public-key cryptography to secure user identities. By leveraging device-based biometrics—such as fingerprint scanning and facial recognition—or physical security keys, the solution aims to eliminate common vulnerabilities including phishing, credential stuffing, and man-in-the-middle attacks. This transition reduces the reliance on SMS-based OTPs, which are increasingly targeted by interceptive cyber-threats.
