UAEREP expands youth research roles to boost water security technology

The UAE Research Program for Rain Enhancement Science (UAEREP) has accelerated its investment in young scientists to address regional water scarcity through advanced meteorology and weather modification technology, the program’s director confirmed on Thursday, 13 August. Global research partnerships expanded Speaking on International Youth Day, Dr. Ahmed Al Kamali, Director of UAEREP, detailed how the program now mandates human capital development as a core criterion for research funding. Every proposal submitted to UAEREP is evaluated on its integration of students and early-career researchers into active field campaigns and laboratory projects. This initiative has facilitated placements for young UAE-based researchers at international institutions including the University of Reading in the UK, the Scripps Institution of Oceanography in California, and the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology (EMPA). The strategic focus on youth development aims to bridge a critical technical gap in atmospheric science.
