UAE worker protection schemes pay out Dh832 million in H1 2026
MoHRE reports Dh320m in worker protection payouts and Dh512m in unemployment insurance as first-half data shows 44,000 beneficiaries.
The UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) distributed more than Dh832 million in compensation during the first half of 2026, marking a significant payout under the nation’s worker protection and unemployment insurance frameworks. According to data released on Tuesday, 11 August, the Workers Protection Programme alone provided over Dh320 million to more than 44,000 beneficiaries by the end of June. Simultaneously, the Unemployment Insurance Scheme, which covers workers who have lost their jobs, paid out Dh512 million for the period spanning January 2024 through June 2026. The figures were confirmed by Dalal Alshehhi, Assistant Undersecretary for Labour Protection at MoHRE, who stated the results reflect the ministry’s focus on balancing employer rights with financial security for the workforce. Infrastructure and Health Protections Beyond direct financial payouts, the ministry reported that its Labour Accommodation System now includes more than 2,800 registered facilities housing approximately two million workers.
