UAE Women Secure Historic Gold Medal Sweep at 2026 Jiu-Jitsu World Championship in Abu Dhabi

The United Arab Emirates women’s national jiu-jitsu team delivered a historic performance at the 2026 Jiu-Jitsu World Championship, capturing three gold medals and two silvers in the Adult division at Mubadala Arena in Abu Dhabi. The performances from Asma Al Hosani, Balqees Al Hashmi, and Shamma Al Kalbani established the UAE's supremacy on the international stage, propelling the national team to the top of the overall Adult world standings in front of a passionate home crowd. Organized by the Jiu-Jitsu International Federation (JJIF) and hosted by the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation (UAEJJF), the flagship global tournament brought together over 1,500 elite martial artists representing more than 65 countries. Despite competing against experienced world champions and top-seeded European and South American grapplers, the Emirati contingent executed technical, composed game plans across every weight bracket. The gold rush opened in the women's under-48 kg division, where Balqees Al Hashmi displayed aggressive guard passing and submission control to secure the world title. Al Hashmi’s victory was complemented by teammate Al Anoud Al Harbi, who took silver in the same category after a hard-fought run through the preliminary rounds.
