A dress crafted from 10 kilograms of pure 21-carat gold has been unveiled at the Watch & Jewellery Middle East Show in Sharjah. The garment, valued at approximately AED 2.5 million ($680,000), is being showcased by Saudi-based Al Romaizan Gold and Jewellery as the world’s most expensive dress of its kind. Eight Months of Craftsmanship The production of the gold dress required more than 3,000 hours of manual labor over an eight-month period. A specialized team of 100 craftsmen was tasked with assembling the intricate components, which feature traditional motifs and heavy gold plating. While the dress is wearable, its weight of 10.8 kilograms makes it primarily a gallery centerpiece intended to demonstrate technical jewelry-making capabilities. Market Value and Materials The current valuation of the piece fluctuates with global gold prices, though organizers at the Expo Centre Sharjah confirmed it currently sits between AED 2.5 million and AED 3 million. The dress is constructed entirely from 21-carat gold, avoiding the use of fabric or synthetic supports to maintain its purity.
