UAE Team Emirates-XRG rider Rui Oliveira secured the first professional road victory of his career on Monday, 17 August, winning the final stage of the Volta a Portugal in Porto. The 29-year-old Portuguese rider, a recent Olympic gold medalist in the Madison at Paris 2024, claimed Stage 10 after a decisive sprint on the technical roads of his home city. Oliveira’s win also secured him the points classification jersey. His performance followed a consistent 11-day campaign where he finished second in both the opening prologue and Stage 6, while holding the leader's yellow jersey after the first stage of the race. Teammate Julius Johansen earned two of these victories, winning the opening prologue and the Stage 5 individual time trial.
