UAE sports federations and pro teams deploy AI for talent identification and injury prevention, while UAE Team Emirates eyes high-tech gear for 2027.
The UAE sports sector has shifted from experimental AI use to full-scale deployment of advanced analytics for athlete preparation, injury prevention, and equipment design. National federations and professional teams are now using physiological data, movement tracking, and automated monitoring systems to manage training loads and identify young talent according to official updates on Saturday, 22 August. Professional cycling to debut AI-designed gear UAE Team Emirates-XRG confirmed it will deploy a new helmet designed using artificial intelligence during the 2027 UAE Tour. Mauro Gianetti, CEO of UAE Team Emirates-XRG, stated that the team is investing in AI-powered systems that support various aspects of cyclists' daily preparation and competitive performance. The move integrates AI into the physical design of equipment to optimize aerodynamics and athlete safety. Technology firm G42 is supporting this transition by building an integrated ecosystem of data centres and computing infrastructure. Alex Bronori, Vice President of Brand at G42, said the company’s infrastructure is designed to deploy AI across national sectors to enhance operational efficiency. This includes processing large volumes of information from physical tests, tracking devices, and video recordings to provide actionable metrics for technical staff.
