The UAE national sailing team has launched a training camp in Italy to prepare for the ILCA 7 World Championship and the upcoming Asian Games.
The UAE national modern sailing team began a final training camp in Riva del Garda, Italy, on Monday, 17 August, ahead of the ILCA 7 World Championship in Ireland. The four-athlete elite squad is preparing for the international regatta scheduled to take place from 23 August to 30 August. Training camp targets physical readiness Managed by technical director Zuhair Al Labat, the national team is utilizing the Italian waters to refine technical maneuvers and physical conditioning. The UAE Sailing and Modern Rowing Federation confirmed that the camp serves as a dual preparation phase for both the upcoming world title race and the Asian Games in Japan, which are slated for September and October. Mohammed Al Obaidli, Secretary-General of the federation, stated that the training programme follows a specific technical plan designed to elevate the athletes to peak competitive levels. The federation expects the rigorous schedule in Italy to provide the necessary edge for the team to compete against global field sizes in the ILCA 7 category.
