The UAE ranks among the global top 10 percent in 37 indicators as Dubai Customs integrates AI to streamline trade.

The UAE has secured the top global position in the Absence of Bureaucracy index, according to the 2026 Competitiveness Report released on Monday, 17 August. The report, which evaluates performance data from 2025, shows the UAE now ranks among the top 10 percent of global performers in 37 distinct indicators, up from 27 in the previous assessment. Customs Efficiency Drives Trade Gains Data from the report indicates that Dubai Customs has a direct impact on seven core competitiveness indicators, including the World Bank’s Logistics Performance Index and the Global Innovation Index. These metrics track international shipments, tracking capabilities, and border administration efficiency. Dr. Abdulla Busenad, Director General of Dubai Customs, stated that the organization is moving toward a model that utilizes artificial intelligence and data analytics to convert operational efficiency into economic value. The UAE's export trade reached $707 billion in 2025, ranking it ninth globally according to World Trade Organisation data. Parallel to this, Jebel Ali Port improved its standing on the Container Port Performance Index (CPPI), rising from 49th to 26th place globally.
