UAE President’s Cup for Purebred Arabian Horses brings elite together at Belgium’s Summit

The 2,200-metre Group 2 race at Waregem Racecourse features 11 elite horses and a record-breaking €250,000 prize purse.

Waregem Racecourse in Belgium will host the eleventh leg of the 33rd UAE President’s Cup for Purebred Arabian Horses on Tuesday, 1 September, featuring a record prize purse of €250,000. The Group 2 race, contested over 2,200 metres on turf, marks the largest financial incentive for Arabian horse racing ever offered in the Kingdom of Belgium. Elite field leads Belgium challenge The race draws 11 elite horses aged four years and above, including several former champions from previous international legs. RB Kingmaker, owned by Helal Alalawi and trained by Elisabeth Bernard Jean-François, enters the race as a primary contender. Ridden by Christophe Soumillon, the horse recently secured the Group 1 Qatar International Stakes at England’s Goodwood Racecourse and previously won the UAE President’s Cup in Abu Dhabi in 2024. Yas Horse Racing Management is represented by Maqbool, trained by Xavier Thomas-Demeaulte. Ridden by Leo-Paul Brechet, Maqbool enters the Belgian summit following a runner-up finish in the Netherlands leg of the current series.
