DUBAI - In a defining moment for the advancement of Emirati athletics on the international stage, the UAE National Golf Team delegation officially departed for Beijing, China, in the early hours of Saturday, August 29, 2026. The national squad is traveling to contest the highly anticipated Nomura Cup, formally known as the Asia-Pacific Amateur Golf Team Championship. Scheduled to take place from September 1 to 4 at the renowned No. 9 International Golf Course in the Chinese capital, the biennial tournament brings together the most accomplished national amateur squads and promising rising stars from across the Asia-Pacific region. The UAE team heads to the championship with a formidable trio of emerging amateur golfers: Mohammad Skaik, Sayed Rayan Ahmed, and Sam Mullane. The national delegation is led by Khalid Mubarak Al Shamsi, Secretary General of the Emirates Golf Federation, accompanied by national team coach Faycal Serghini. Together, the technical and administrative leadership aims to translate months of rigorous preparation into competitive performances that reflect the sustained maturity, technical discipline, and strategic vision underpinning modern golf in the United Arab Emirates.
