UAE launches national Social Cohesion Index Survey to measure community stability

The Ministry of Community Empowerment and FCSC launch a nationwide survey to measure trust and social stability across all seven emirates.
The Ministry of Community Empowerment (MOCE) and the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Centre (FCSC) launched the Social Cohesion Index Survey on Monday, 5 October. The nationwide data collection effort targets citizens and residents across all seven emirates to measure trust, solidarity, and social stability within the UAE. The survey is conducted through face-to-face interviews led by field researchers who will visit households and labour accommodation facilities. The initiative aims to provide decision-makers with a data-driven assessment of social ties, belonging, and shared values to inform future national policies and social programmes. Measuring National Social Dynamics According to the FCSC, the survey covers diverse segments of society to build a comprehensive picture of national harmony. The index will specifically calculate levels of trust, justice, equality, and tolerance. Hanan Mansour Ahli, Managing Director of the FCSC, stated that the survey provides an integrated statistical tool for monitoring social transformations and providing indicators that support national planning. The launch of this survey is triggered by the "Year of Family 2026" designation by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The government is prioritising the reinforcement of family values and social ties as a pillar of long-term national stability.
