UAE Launches ‘Naseej’ Initiative to Transform Textile Sector Circularity

The UAE has launched ‘Naseej’, a national initiative directed by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to transition the country’s textile sector into a circular economy. The program seeks to integrate sustainable production methods across the entire textile value chain, focusing on resource efficiency and waste reduction. The initiative establishes a regulatory framework to manage textile waste, which currently represents a significant portion of industrial byproduct. By implementing circularity, the UAE aims to reduce the environmental footprint of the sector while increasing the domestic manufacturing of sustainable materials. The program involves coordination between the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) and the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment. Regulatory Framework and Resource Efficiency Naseej introduces specific targets for recycling and the reuse of fabrics within the local market.
