UAE launches multi-billion tourism projects including Sphere Abu Dhabi and Dubai beach expansion

The UAE is accelerating its tourism infrastructure rollout in 2026, launching a series of multi-billion-dirham projects including the $1.7 billion Sphere Abu Dhabi and a AED12 billion investment plan for Yas Island. These developments, spanning Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, and Ras Al Khaimah, aim to diversify the national economy and increase visitor capacity through 2030. Abu Dhabi expands Yas Island capacity In Abu Dhabi, Miral confirmed a commitment of AED12 billion over the next five years to expand Yas Island’s attractions. A primary component is Sphere Abu Dhabi, located between Yas Mall and SeaWorld Abu Dhabi. The $1.7 billion venue, which broke ground earlier this year, will be the first of its kind outside the United States, offering a capacity of 20,000 for immersive concerts and sporting events. Dubai approves beach and oasis projects Dubai authorities approved the AED500 million redevelopment of Umm Suqeim Beach on Saturday, 26 September. The project includes a 38-metre observation tower and a two-kilometre coastal wall, designed to increase annual visitor capacity to six million people.
