The United Arab Emirates has formally joined a global initiative for the safe development of artificial intelligence during a high-level summit in Washington, D.C. The partnership establishes a collaborative framework between international AI Safety Institutes to standardize testing protocols and mitigate risks associated with advanced machine learning models. Global Safety Standards and Cooperation The agreement brings together leading technological nations to share technical data and research on AI governance. Under the terms of the initiative, the UAE will participate in a network designed to evaluate the safety, security, and ethical implications of frontier AI systems. This network aims to create a unified approach to identifying vulnerabilities in large-scale models before they are deployed to the public. Representing the UAE, the Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications Office noted that the move aligns with existing domestic efforts to regulate the sector.
