The UAE has maintained stable food supplies and commodity price consistency throughout recent global shipping disruptions by leveraging its multi-modal logistics network and expansive strategic reserves. Despite volatility in Red Sea maritime routes, the country’s Diversified supply chain infrastructure has prevented shortages of essential goods. Logistics Infrastructure and Multi-Modal Transit DP World’s Jebel Ali Port and AD Ports Group’s Khalifa Port have served as critical nodes in bypassing maritime bottlenecks. To mitigate delays, the UAE has increased its reliance on sea-to-air cargo transitions, allowing perishable goods to move through Dubai International and Al Maktoum International airports when sea lanes face congestion. This shift ensures that high-priority food items reach retail shelves within 48 to 72 hours of arrival at UAE borders. The UAE’s National Food Security Strategy 2051 provides the framework for these operations, requiring the maintenance of a three-to-six-month reserve for 18 essential commodities, including grains, oils, and proteins.
