In a historic evolution of one of the nation’s most cherished civic observances, the United Arab Emirates is preparing to celebrate Emirati Women’s Day 2026 across an unprecedented, month-long calendar of cultural, academic, and economic programming. The expansion, directed by Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, "Mother of the Nation," Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF), marks a major evolution in how the country honors the contributions of women to national development. Beginning on the traditional observance date of August 28 and extending through September 28, 2026, the month-long initiative is organized under the official theme: “We Emerge Stronger and Better” . In an open letter addressed to the people of the UAE, Sheikha Fatima highlighted that the horizon of national ambition has expanded so significantly that a single 24-hour window is no longer sufficient to showcase the depth of female achievements across public administration, space exploration, artificial intelligence, healthcare, and the creative industries.
