Trade volume between the UAE and EAEU member states increased 111% since 2021, reaching $33.3 billion as a new trade deal nears completion.

Non-oil trade between the UAE and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) surpassed $33.3 billion in 2023, marking a 111% increase compared to 2021. Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade, confirmed the figures as the UAE enters the final stages of negotiating a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) with the five-nation bloc. Rapid Expansion of Eurasian Trade Corridors The EAEU, which comprises Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan, represents a combined market of more than 183 million people. Recent data indicates that the EAEU has become a primary trade partner for the UAE within the CIS region. The $33.3 billion trade volume includes a surge in non-oil exports and re-exports, particularly in the electronics, machinery, and logistics sectors. Negotiations for a bilateral trade deal began in late 2022, following a joint statement in Moscow. The UAE aims to eliminate or reduce tariffs on over 90% of product lines, facilitating easier market entry for Emirati businesses into the Eurasian corridor.
