Typhoon Bavi, known locally as Inday, triggered widespread flooding across Manila and forced the evacuation of hundreds in Taiwan on Sunday as the storm intensified in the Philippine Sea. The weather system has enhanced monsoon rains across Luzon, leaving several urban districts submerged and disrupting regional transport links. Flooding and alerts in the Philippines The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) issued several flood warnings for Metro Manila and surrounding provinces in Luzon. Local disaster management offices reported that torrential rains rendered multiple arterial roads impassable for light vehicles by Sunday morning. While the typhoon’s center remained offshore, its interaction with the southwest monsoon generated significant rainfall totals across the northern islands.
