A woman is in critical condition after suffering severe injuries during a shark attack at Coogee Beach in Sydney’s east on Monday evening. Emergency services were dispatched to the popular swimming spot at approximately 8:00 PM following reports of a swimmer in distress near the southern end of the beach. Emergency Response and Medical Status New South Wales (NSW) Ambulance paramedics treated the woman, identified as being in her 20s, on the shore for significant wounds to her right leg. Following stabilization at the scene, she was transported to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. Medical officials confirmed she remains in a critical but stable condition as of Tuesday morning. NSW Police established a crime scene and cordoned off the promenade immediately following the incident. Initial reports indicate the woman was swimming approximately 20 meters from the shore when the attack occurred.
