Sheikh Hasher opens DIHAD 2026 to overhaul global aid strategies

H.H. Sheikh Hasher bin Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Media Incorporated, inaugurated the 22nd edition of the Dubai International Humanitarian Aid and Development Conference and Exhibition (DIHAD 2026) at the Dubai World Trade Centre on Tuesday, 25 August. The three-day event has convened more than 21,000 participants from 165 countries to address the rapid transformation of global aid delivery. New Humanitarian Endowment Fund During the opening ceremony, Sheikh Hasher witnessed the launch of the Awqaf Dubai and DIHAD Endowment Fund for Humanitarian Action. This joint initiative by the Endowment and Minors’ Trust Foundation (Awqaf Dubai) and the DIHAD Sustainable Organisation creates a dedicated financial vehicle to fund long-term development projects. The fund is designed to shift the sector from temporary emergency relief toward sustainable, self-generating financial models. The exhibition features over 1,000 participating entities, including United Nations agencies, the Red Cross, and various non-governmental organisations. This year’s event includes 320 speakers across 260 sessions, focusing on the theme of "Humanitarianism in Transition." The Kingdom of Denmark is participating as the Guest of Honour, while the UAE Aid Agency serves as the official partner.
