Sharjah sets new AI governance rules and media standards in digital push

The Sharjah Executive Council (SEC) approved a new organisational structure for the Sharjah International Airport Authority and ratified a Unified Media Policy for the emirate during its meeting on Tuesday, 25 August. Chaired by H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, the session focused on institutional restructuring and digital governance across key sectors. Airport Authority Restructuring Following directives from His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, the SEC approved the draft general organisational structure for Sharjah International Airport. The overhaul aims to strengthen the authority's institutional capabilities as the airport reports sustained growth in passenger and cargo traffic. The SEC General Secretariat has been directed to submit the final draft to the Ruler of Sharjah for formal enactment. New Unified Media Policy The Council also adopted the Unified Media Policy of the Emirate of Sharjah, a strategic framework designed to shift government communication toward a smart, data-driven institutional system.
