Sharjah is leveraging its dual-coast port infrastructure to stabilize regional supply chains and mitigate global maritime volatility. Mohamed Juma Al Musharrakh, CEO of the Sharjah FDI Office (Invest in Sharjah), confirmed that the emirate’s logistics network provides a critical safety net for international trade routes and food security. \n\n Sharjah remains the only emirate with operational seaports on both the Arabian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman. Port Khalid and Hamriyah Port serve the western coast, while Khorfakkan Port on the east coast provides direct access to the Indian Ocean. This geographical advantage allows shipping lines to bypass the Strait of Hormuz, reducing transit times and avoiding regional maritime bottlenecks. \n\n Strategic Logistics and Industrial Capacity \n\n The emirate’s infrastructure supports more than 21 industrial zones, which contribute significantly to the UAE’s non-oil GDP. The integration of these ports with the Sharjah International Airport creates a multimodal transport hub, facilitating the movement of goods between sea, air, and land.
