Sharjah Civil Defence adds three specialised vehicles to emergency fleet

The Sharjah Civil Defence Authority added three specialised firefighting and rescue vehicles to its operational fleet on Wednesday, 5 August, to increase response speeds and technical capabilities across the emirate. The new units include a high-reach ladder truck, a rapid intervention vehicle, and a heavy-duty rescue unit equipped for complex urban emergencies. Advanced technical specifications The rollout includes a 55-metre hydraulic ladder designed for high-rise fire suppression and evacuations in Sharjah’s growing skyline. This vehicle allows teams to reach approximately 18 to 20 floors, addressing the specific architectural needs of districts such as Al Majaz and Al Khan. Additionally, the rapid intervention units are equipped with high-pressure water mist systems, which use significantly less water than traditional hoses to extinguish fires more efficiently in confined spaces. The third vehicle is a dedicated heavy rescue unit carrying hydraulic cutting tools, thermal imaging cameras, and advanced lighting systems. This unit is specifically configured for road traffic accidents and structural collapses, providing support to first responders during the critical "golden hour" of trauma care.
