Sharjah Chess Club expands school talent scouting for 2026-2027 term

The Sharjah Cultural and Chess Club announced an action plan on Tuesday, 25 August to integrate chess into government and private schools across the emirate for the 2026–2027 academic year. The programme focuses on children under the age of eight to establish a sustainable pipeline for professional clubs. Targeting Early Talent Chaired by Tareq Matar Taryam, Chairman of the club, the meeting outlined strategies to identify high-potential students and transition them from school-level play to competitive club environments. The initiative requires all scouting data and registration procedures for outstanding students to be completed before the end of 2026. The club will assign coaches to schools in the Eastern and Central regions based on specific student needs and current equipment levels. To support the rollout, the club will host a workshop for teachers on the Logiq Board, a digital chess learning platform. This training will be conducted in coordination with the Ministry of Education, the Sharjah Private Education Authority, and the International Chess Federation’s Education Commission. The goal is to provide educators with modern pedagogical tools to monitor student progress through standardized performance indicators.
