Sharjah Airport handled 392,000 passengers between 10 August and 16 August, marking the peak of the summer travel season as residents returned for the upcoming academic year. The airport authority confirmed on Tuesday, 25 August, that the week saw a total of 2,350 flight movements, split equally between arrivals and departures. Breakdown of Traffic Volumes Data released by the airport shows that arriving passengers accounted for the largest share of traffic at 175,000 travellers. Departing passengers reached 151,000, while the facility processed 66,000 transit passengers during the seven-day period. The busiest single day was Saturday, 15 August, which saw 48,859 people pass through the terminal, including 25,251 arrivals. The surge in volume was driven by high demand for regional hubs. The most active flight routes during this peak week were Cairo, Doha, Dhaka, and Amman. These destinations serve as critical links for the UAE’s expatriate workforce and summer vacationers returning from seasonal breaks.
