Saudi Arabia has implemented a new rule limiting the amount of time vehicles from GCC countries can remain in the kingdom. For UAE residents who frequently drive to Saudi Arabia, this means private cars are now restricted to a 90-day stay within any 365-day period, after which they must exit the country.
Saudi Arabia's General Directorate of Public Security has introduced a new regulation that restricts the stay of vehicles registered in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. The rule directly affects UAE residents who drive their personal cars into the kingdom for business, tourism or to visit family, limiting their vehicle's presence to 90 days within a one-year period. ## What exactly has changed? Under the new directive, vehicles with licence plates from any GCC state, including the UAE, cannot remain inside Saudi Arabia for more than three months (90 days) within a rolling 365-day period.
