Saudi Arabia Detains 97 Officials in Nationwide Corruption Crackdown

Saudi Arabia’s Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) has detained 97 individuals, including government employees, following a series of investigations into financial and administrative corruption. The arrests are part of an intensified crackdown on graft involving multiple state ministries and public institutions. Ministries under investigation The anti-corruption body conducted 2,810 inspection raids during its latest operational cycle. These investigations led to the interrogation of 176 suspects, with 97 people ultimately placed in custody. The detainees face charges including bribery, forgery, money laundering, and abuse of power. Officials involved represent the Ministries of Interior, Defense, National Guard, Justice, Health, and Education, along with the Saudi Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority.
