Saudi Arabia deports 10,827 illegal residents in week-long security crackdown
Saudi Arabia arrested 20,778 people and deported over 10,000 in a weekly crackdown on residency and labor law violations.
Saudi Arabian authorities deported 10,827 individuals for violating residency, labor, and border security regulations during a seven-day enforcement period ending on Thursday, 6 August. The operations were part of a coordinated national campaign involving multiple government agencies to track and apprehend foreign nationals staying or working in the Kingdom without valid legal status. Enforcement Data and Violations Data released by the Saudi Ministry of Interior on Sunday, 9 August, confirms that a total of 20,778 individuals were arrested during the week-long crackdown. Of those detained, 11,523 were apprehended for residency law violations, 5,711 for labor law infractions, and 3,544 for attempting to cross the border illegally. Security forces intercepted 1,570 individuals attempting to enter the Kingdom across its borders. Of these, 39% were Yemeni nationals, 58% were Ethiopian, and 3% were of other nationalities. Additionally, 53 individuals were caught attempting to exit Saudi Arabia by crossing borders illegally during the same period.
