Ajman University student enrolment has surpassed 10,000 for the first time since its inception, the institution announced on Saturday, 3 October. The growth marks a record high for the entity, which originally launched in 1988 as the first private university in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region. The university, which recently transitioned to a non-profit model, stated that the increase in student numbers follows sustained investment in scientific research and international faculty recruitment. The institution recently secured a position within the top 400 of the QS World University Rankings for 2027, a factor the administration cited as a primary driver for the current recruitment cycle. Academic Expansion and Research Investment University officials confirmed that the current student body includes both UAE nationals and international students, supported by a faculty recruited from global institutions. The growth is linked to new academic disciplines and expanded international partnerships that aim to improve graduate employability in the local and regional job markets. This expansion comes as the UAE higher education sector sees increased competition among private and non-profit institutions.
