Philippine ETEEAP Scheme Converts Years of Work Experience Into University Degrees

Filipino expats with five years of experience can bypass traditional university years to earn degrees through the ETEEAP equivalency program.

Filipino expatriates in the UAE and across the Middle East can now convert years of professional work experience into formal academic qualifications through the Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program (ETEEAP). This alternative education pathway allows skilled workers to bypass several years of traditional university study by assessing their expertise against higher education standards. How the Equivalency System Operates Administered by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) in the Philippines, ETEEAP targets overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who have at least five years of professional experience but lack a degree. The program assumes that an individual has acquired college-level knowledge through professional practice. Under this framework, CHED-deputized higher education institutions evaluate an applicant’s portfolio, administer exams, and conduct interviews to determine how many credits their work history is worth.
