Over 500 local card payments processed as Sharjah scales up domestic fintech use

The Sharjah Finance Department (SFD) has integrated the Jaywan card, the UAE’s national payment card, across all channels of its "Tahseel" digital payment system. The move allows users to settle government fees through the Tahseel website, smart application, and physical service centres using the domestic payment scheme. Transaction Volumes and System Integration Data released by the department on Tuesday, 25 August, reveals the "Tahseel" system recorded more than 558 transactions using Jaywan cards during the first half of 2026. The integration follows the first successful transaction completed using the national card on 20 September 2025. The system is designed to provide a unified platform for government revenue collection, combining remote and in-person payment methods. Huda Al Yasi, Director of the Financial System Department at SFD, stated that enabling Jaywan cards strengthens the diversity of national payment solutions. Al Yasi noted that the department is focused on enhancing the integration of payment channels to improve the efficiency of collection processes and simplify the customer journey for different segments of the population.
