Oman’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has officially resumed the issuance of permits for drone operations and aerial sports activities across the Sultanate. The decision ends a temporary suspension on licensing, allowing commercial, governmental, and recreational entities to restart flight operations under revised regulatory oversight. New Requirements for Drone Operators The CAA confirmed that the resumption applies to various categories of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). To obtain a permit, operators must register their devices through the authority's digital portal and provide technical specifications of the equipment. For commercial use, including aerial photography, land surveying, and industrial inspections, companies must provide proof of insurance and pilot certification. The regulatory framework mandates that all drone activity must maintain a safe distance from restricted zones.
