The UAE Federal Tax Authority (FTA) joined tax leaders from 10 BRICS nations in New Delhi on Thursday, 1 October, to negotiate new frameworks for digital tax administration and cross-border cooperation. The BRICS Tax Experts and Tax Heads Meeting 2026, hosted by India’s Central Board of Direct Taxes, focused on integrating emerging technologies to streamline revenue collection and compliance. Technological integration and data sharing The UAE delegation, led by FTA Director General Abdulaziz Al Mulla, met with representatives from the expanded BRICS bloc to address the impact of rapid economic shifts on national tax systems. The discussions centered on how artificial intelligence and automated data sharing can reduce administrative burdens and improve the accuracy of tax assessments. The UAE team included Saida Kaddoumi Osman, Policy Adviser, and Meera Qassim, International Relations Senior Analyst. Al Mulla stated during the session that the UAE is actively modernizing its tax infrastructure to prioritize technological efficiency and user experience. He noted that the BRICS platform serves as a critical venue for exchanging operational benchmarks and responding to the global digital economy.
