NCM forecasts eastern UAE rain as regional thunderstorms hit Saudi Arabia

The UAE’s National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has confirmed that while Saudi Arabia and Oman face multi-day thunderstorms, the impact on the Emirates will be limited to localized rain in eastern regions on Tuesday, 29 September. Regional Storm Warnings Saudi Arabia’s National Center for Meteorology issued alerts for heavy thunderstorms, hail, and potential flash floods across Jazan, Asir, Al Baha, and Mecca. According to the Saudi numerical weather model, these unsettled conditions are expected to persist through the end of the week, extending into Medina, Tabuk, and Al Jouf. In Oman, the Al Hajar Mountains are forecast to experience isolated thundershowers and downdraft winds on Tuesday and Wednesday, with activity potentially reaching desert areas. Impact on the UAE Despite the severe weather in neighboring states, the NCM’s four-day outlook indicates the UAE will remain largely unaffected by the broader storm systems. On Tuesday, convective clouds are expected to develop over eastern areas, bringing a probability of rainfall. However, the remainder of the country will see fair to partly cloudy conditions.
