Meta platforms including Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger experienced a major service disruption on Sunday, 19 July, affecting thousands of users in the UAE and globally. Technical logs from outage tracking site Downdetector showed a sharp spike in reports beginning at approximately 3:00 PM UAE time, with users unable to refresh feeds, send direct messages, or log into their accounts. UAE users report widespread login failures In the UAE, the outage primarily impacted the Instagram mobile application, where users encountered "could not refresh feed" error messages. Meta’s WhatsApp messenger appeared to remain largely unaffected during the initial hour of the disruption. According to Downdetector data, more than 50,000 reports were filed globally within the first 30 minutes, indicating a synchronized failure across Meta’s server infrastructure rather than a localized provider issue.
